Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made at least 7 days before the scheduled start of the trekking tour are eligible for a full refund.

For cancellations made less than 7 days before the tour, a refund may still be granted if the guest is unable to participate for a significant and verifiable reason:

  • serious illness or injury
  • hospitalization
  • the death or serious illness of a close family member
  • or major travel disruptions such as a cancelled flight
  Appropriate proof must be provided

Once the cancellation has been accepted, the amount paid may either be refunded or retained as credit towards a future booking.

The following are not considered significant reasons for cancellation:

  • bad weather or rain
  • hot or humid weather
  • weather forecasts predicting rain
  • a personal change of plans
  • deciding that the tour may be too difficult or too strenuous
  • not bringing suitable clothing, footwear or equipment
  • tiredness or lack of sleep
  • minor discomfort or minor illness that does not prevent participation
  • dissatisfaction with seasonal conditions, such as muddy or slippery trails
  • preferring another activity or changing your travel itinerary
  • concerns about insects, wildlife or other normal conditions of a jungle environment

Weather and trail conditions are a natural part of trekking in Northern Thailand, particularly during the rainy season. Tours therefore operate in rain and other normal seasonal conditions unless Chiang Mai Trekking determines that conditions make the tour or an activity unsafe.
