I´ve been on the same tour as Konstantin (comment no.46) and agree with everything he has written just want to add that Piroon is on top of all even a fantastic cook.
Thanks for a great time.
I highly recommend "Chiang Mai Trekking" with Piroon.

I just returned from a 3-Day Trekking Tour with elephant riding and bamboo rafting.
IT WAS AWESOME!
Anybody who is interested in real trekking in small groups (compared to the huge tourist groups other companys do) should contact Piroon. He shows you authentic thai villages (no electricity as not built for tourists) , drives you much further in the rain forest (you do not! share the trekking paths with other tourists, maybe with local people hunting), and tells you lots of interesting stuff.
Plus he is a great funny guy who treats everybody (tour guides, local people and YOU) like friends with a lot of respect, no fake attitude.
It was totally worth every Bath. Actually I was that excited that i write this review here, which normally is not my thing

We just returned from a three day/two nights trek and it was AWESOME! The highlight of our Thailand tour.
Our guide Pam - an old friend and colleague of Piroon - was friendly, knowledgeable, polite and patient. He paid attention to individual needs and made sure that we felt welcome in the villages. In addition to a great nature and cultural experience, this tour was also a thai cooking class - both evenings we prepared tasty thai food together with our guide.
We can only recommend others to book their trek with Piroon Nantaya.
Thank you!

I did the 3-day trip with the most wonderful guide Piroon and his son together with 2 German guys in november. His company is not yet listed here on TA (which is why I write this forum post instead of a review) but as soon as he gets (soon) I am positive that he will make it to the very top tour companies. Yes, he is more expensive than all other companies but it's a great example that you get what you pay for! Have you ever heard any horror or disappointment stories from fellow backpackers that went with other companies and for example visited tribal villages and saw no villagers? Or walked on the big main paths? Or had a non-fluent English speaking or rude guide? Chaing Mai Trekking is the very opposite to all that! He takes you trekking further away from all the crowds for a REAL trekking experience close to wonderful Pai! He actually brings a machete since you will be walking in dense tropical bush - so beware of leaches in rain season. You visit Real tribal villages (not built for tourists like many other companies), the first one we stayed in had 300 villagers and the three of us were hte only western people in it, the second village had an additional western couple so don't you worry about not seeing the local people. Apart from the real jungle experience (quite tough trekking, so not for the faint-hearted) you visit and go swimming in a really nice waterfall, visit a local market, go bamboo rafting (crazy fun), elephant riding (ask if you can help to wash an elephant), visit an orchid and butterfly farm (or ask if you can go whitewater rafting instead for an additional cost â highly recommended!). The price get lower the more people who join the tour. Since we were only 3, the price was 5,000 THB/person but that includes everything apart from beers/soft drinks and if you want to go whitewater rafting instead of visiting the orchid farm. If you have the money â I can guarantee that the trip is worth every Baht! Please PM me or write directly to Piroon (see below) if you have any further questions.

p.s. No, I do not get paid to write this post/review, I just loved the trekking experience so much and want more travellers to also experience the beautiful surroundings of northern Thailand near Chiang Mai and Pai with a very experienced and friendly guide and not get disappointed like unfortunately so many trekking participants get in this area from the budget tour companies.
